Default front brake question for 07 springer

Ok fellas I keep hearing the brake on the springer classic is well shitty for a lack of a better word. Ive also heard that theres a reason the front springer brake is a single piston, mainly because the springer front end just cant take a more powerful brake.

Is this true? Has anyone replaced the stock front brake for a more powerful 4 piston version. Any advice would be much appreicated.

I've never heard that about the springer..I know a lot of people that have changed out the front caliper..The stock single sucks..

Hawg Halter 4 piston...Available in black or chrome...Direct bolt on.

I have read many stories and heard a lot of people say too strong a brake (specifically combined with really really really heavy braking) can result in the buckling and collapse of the Springer front end and that is why they come from the factory with a single piston caliper.

However, several companies make multi-piston calipers that are direct bolt-on replacements for Springers. That would imply that you can add more stopping power up front without risk of the front end turning into twisted rods.

Besides, of all the information I have come across saying the front end can't handle more powerful brakes, I've never heard of a case where the front end did buckle or deform with either the stock caliper, or a more powerful, aftermarket multi-piston unit.

I have an 06 FX Springer and I admit its not as quick to stop as a standard front end and I attribute that to the caliper. I may replace it down the road but honestly I'm more concerned with getting a chrome one than getting a stronger one. I just have come to accept that its not as good a stopper as others and I compensate accordingly. But if I drop the cash for a new caliper (one of the more pricey mods), I may as well go for something with more grab.
