Default 2018 Heritage Test Ride

I actually watched the Dealer Show live an like a lot of people on this forum I thought the MOCO had screwed the pooch this time. But I went by the local dealer to have a look anyway. They had a Fat Boy there, not my cup of tea but I thought it looked awesome, the "Brushed chrome" actually looked great.
I then test rode the Rust Primer 114 Heritage. Currently I own 2 Softails, 97 FXSTS and 99 FLSTS. Every time I see a pothole or manhole cover I "Brace" for impact, the loud sound of the frame bottoming out. On the 114, did not feel the bumps at all.
last year I purchased a 107 powered Ultra Limited, love the Milwaukee Eight. I have 1bout 5000 miles on that one and it is a game changer. The power delivery, comfort and smoothness is unbelievable. The other thing I noticed is the lack of valve and other engine noise, so it is still stock and I can hear the exhaust better than the 2013 I had with V&H headers and Monster Rounds. It also seems that I can "feel" the engine better.
This is now transpired to the Heritage, unbelievably smooth, fast and sounds great when you are on it. Hit 90 on interstate going up on ramp, and was not trying, just happened quick. And it wasn't until 90 that I started to feel any buffeting on the helmet. At first I thought the Windshield was too low (Sitting in Showroom) but I was wrong. I am 5`10" and it fit perfect. The seat was really comfortable as well. Unlike last years Heritage seat.
I too am old school and really wanted a new Heritage Softail with Chrome and Whitewalls, etc. But after riding this one I am sold. I am selling my 99 and 97 and Buying a new one.
One of the things the MOCO stressed and the Dealer Show was getting people to test ride. I think a lot of people will change their minds once they do.

My feelings exactly! This is a fun motorcycle to ride. It is crazy comfortable. I am all in. I posted elsewhere that my wife said that this was the most comfortable bike that she has been on. That includes '91 Heritage, 2000 Road King and a 2012 Street Glide all with suspension mods. My biggest dilemma will be deciding a color. On my test ride I only had a chance to get to 70 mph so I am glad to hear your review.

They were single disc before, and the bikes weighed more. The brake system is upgraded to 4 piston in the front and the rear is floating now, plus all have ABS.

I don't see any issue with the single rotor setup. The cost of the dual setup would have driven up the price of the bike.

Default Brakes are awesome

When i test rode it i slammed on the brakes at about 40, stopping power is unbelievable. For safety i am a big fan of Anti Lock.
I was told that prior to antilock the softails would be likely to have too muck brake with dual disks and lock up the front end.
I have a 17 limited that has duals and the 18 Deritage feels like it stops quicker.
