Default tail light harness

Hey Guys (and gals I suppose!) I have a 2010 Fatboy. Started having tail light issues. Tracked down problem to the harness falling loose under rear fender onto the tire. wore a hole in the wires. I've got a replacement harness on order but was wondering if anyone has had to replace theirs and is there another feasible way to route it other than where it was at from the factory. I mean....C'mon! Double sided tape?? REALLY?

I'd use Silicon sealant but if you haven't removed the fender you'll need to secure with tape until the silicon goes off.
