so im throwing in some andrews 57h cams in my 17 softail slim s. currently i have a rush 2.25 baffle slip ons. since i have to take the exhaust off i was thinking about getting bassani firesweep exhaust...my question is what will perform better the stock header pipe with the cross over and slipons or the bassani 2-2 pipes?
Well I can only tell you that the cross over does help. On my 14 I had V&H silp ons and it was tuned with a FP3. Then I went to a true duals and flashed it with the fp3 again.. I thought I had better power with the slip ons.... From all the info I found . I learned that true duals give the worst performance . Look the best. But that's about it. That cross over is there for a reason!!!! Its your money... don't get me wrong I have a heritage and I think the look of true duals is worth it!!!
i was also looking at the rineharts churchill along with the firesweep, half of me is saying just put the stock with slip on back on to see how it preforms first...
V&H has a hidden cross over. N the big shots look damn good on a Slim. Just fyi.
The cross over I'm talking about it the one Harley has as stock equipment on their soft tails. Its part of the header. Using slipons keeps the cross over, going to a full exhaust removes the stock cross over...
Yes it will remove the stock crossover, but a V&H full system has a crossover made into it that is hidden like the stock system. I just installed the big shots on my slim 3 weeks ago.
07 Heritage here... I've also thought about several other systems in the past... But after 52K and 10 yrs I still have my Rush 2'' on.. they IMO sound as good as any and with my Stg1 and Andrews 26's with the old Org. SERT tuner I am still totally happy..
And as said above your stock headers do have a cross over pipe between them..
And I've read that several in here that didn't like getting their left leg burned with TD's. So that's another reason I stayed with my Rush's
For performance you might check out Bassani's Road rage II's (now called the --B1's) _ If I ever do a change, it'd be with them.. and if you get them make sure you get the longer ones for the Heritage...

I had the Churchill's on my last Fatboy before changing over to a 2:1 system. I thought the power range was good but to me the noise level was higher than I liked. I am too aware of noise levels on any ride of any length so take that into consideration. I also installed the Thunder baffles to quiet them down some.
