To tell the truth, the studs and conchos were not my cup of tea, but when the right confluence of events had me at the dealer looking at a new bike, the Heritage was the most comfortable for me. I love the laced wheels and along with the miles of chrome, the whitewalls, studs and conchos have grown on me.
At first I removed the windshield, but that too has come into my preference as it blocks most of the wind and other road crap off me. There's still enough wind to tickle my beard - it's not like the touring line where you get no breeze and could probably have a quiet smoke whilst riding.
I work downtown Toronto, and most days when I walk out to my bike and stop to put my helmet and gloves on, some dude will say "awesome bike" or give me the thumbs up as they walk-by.
The real problem with that is that one day while I was gearing up, I was watching a rider on a red Ducati sportbike get ready. A gorgeous young lady walked up to him and asked "are you single? Can I give you my number?". For me, it's only old dudes complimenting my bike. LoL
That's funny, I get the compliments from older ladies. Like old enough to be my mom. I'm still in my 20s though so I guess that's not too bad.

Hey r1cochet, that's the exact dream I had the other night. LOL

I think the old Heritage was the ugliest bike HD had in its lineup before this year. The chrome studded bags and seat looked cheesy and outdated. This new Heritage is a huge improvement. Still not a huge fan of the studded bags but at least now that they're dark they're less visible.

You didn't like the pre '18 FLSTC because of studded bags ? Go figure. I guess guys that have a "fake' lookin' chopper bikes think they are cool lookin'. But I wouldn't disrespect them with my views.

I don't see how my opinion of a bike disrespects anyone. I've been on this forum for a long time and I'm certainly not the first person to express my opinion about a bike I don't like.

It's suppose to look "outdated" hence the word "classic"
Before everyone jumps on the New Heritage band wagon thinking they're an improvement, most dealers right now are selling the 17`s very quickly - I was at the dealer in wintersville OH looking at a beautiful 17 Heritage - left there thinking I have time.............Bwahahahah bike sold after I left was off their site Saturday evening - I called today & yep SOLD!
Guy test rode the red denim 114 while I was there & his remark was - Ill keep my 15!
My issue with the new one isn't really the looks (aside from that dog-ugly primer red) It's the mechanical noise. The whirring and etc. It reminds me of the old Honda V4 Interceptor. Broken sewing machine. I want to hear one with a decent set of pipes & a re-tune.
Another test ride's in order. Maybe this time NOT in a group with a bunch of idiots. The low-fuel light being on didn't help (So, how far will this thing go?)
I haven't seen a Deluxe in person yet. The pic on here of the one with the bags & windshield etc looked pretty good

In 1986 Harley produced a new bike that was based off the 1949 FL and called it the Heritage Softail Classic. Some argued that the '86 did not have the classic looks of the '49. What would you have thought? Times change. Styles change. Like it or not, it's inevitable.
