Default 2018 Heritage, wtf

Got a chance to test ride the 18 Heritage, today with the 114. A couple of weeks ago I got out on a 114 Fatboy. Being on baggers for the last couple of decades, I haven't really kept up with softails, although I'm considering a change over. As I was getting on the on ramp, something hit my leg, looking in the mirror a chrome piece was bouncing down the road. Stopped walked back it was the gas cap?? Getting back to the bike I was shock that there was no fake riser to hold the cap on. Basically the cap and holder are glued to the tank with double sided tape, wtf. Has that been the standard, or is new for the 18's. There is a stamped area on the tank where it's fits but talk about cheap and shitty ideas. Bike had 131 miles on it. The salesman was shocked, as were several others. Definitely dims the out look for a new softail.

Wow. I had no idea. That type of nonfunctional fake crap is what makes people not like the new bikes.

Wow, that's strange. I assume you're talking about the left side false cap that was the fuel gauge on the old Softail/Dynas meant to mimic the old split tank? Not the actual gas cap on the right side? If so it's purely decorative, but that's still a poor choice of manufacturing. With all the changes I guess they were afraid to lose some of the traditional style, but since it's no longer of any function they cut corners on design...

I don't see too many other "non-functional fake crap" parts of the new design. Strange choice on the Moco.

I am so far behind the times, I had no idea that both gas are no longer functional. When did that happen?

It's there for appearance, but for a company to cut a corner like that makes you wonder. If anyone has a 18 softail, do you have to pull the battery to get the trans dip stick out?

I'll have to look later tonight. That would seem extreme...

A $25k bike held together with tape.

Yea, not regretting not jumping on the bandwagon right away at all.

Well, if you've had metal tank emblems on any Harley in the last 18 years...you've had your bike "held together with tape"...by that definition.
