Not to mention all the car and truck manufacturers use double-sided adhesive tape to adhere emblems, body cladding packages the whole nine yards.

I looked into getting a Harley CB for my '15 RGS. If you have an Ultra or CVO, (prior to '18), then you have the plug on the tank trim for your Harley headset.

If you don't have an Ultra or CVO, then you need a plug, and the "official" Harley headset harness includes a plug that is installed by...wait for it...a piece of double-stick tape that attaches the plug directly to the painted surface of the gas tank in front of the seat.

Oh, eff no.

Attaching trim and logos is not the same as attaching actual "parts" with double-stick tape.

It's not really a "part"...just a decorative faux piece. Pretty much as useful as a hood ornament.

No, thank god. It's under the right side cover. You do need a screwdriver to remove the cover, but it's right underneath.

A "non-functional fuel cap emblem" is on my list of cosmetic upgrades said nobody, ever.

Maybe I'm being unfair.

Ok, I've added a fake stick on fuel cap right next to a fake glue on carburetor in my upgrade list. We'll see where this road takes us.

I'd rather not have anything on that side of the tank than having a fake gas cap taped on there.

I think the first thing I'd do to the bike is to just remove that fake cap and tape on my own.

The "stick on" tank emblems on our '15 simply fell off while we were washing it.
They installed a new set (under warranty). That set fell off 2 months later.

We should demand better TAPE !!!

The 'Fake' gas cap on the Fatboy has a riveted bracket on the tank. You have to line up the cap and twist, to lock it in place.

I see this Thread as a big BIG deal over NOTHING. For the love of God cant some of you focus on impotent things. Dose the 18 ride smoother? is the handling better? How about vibration at speeds, less then the old frame or not? Do you like the M8 better then the TC? How about that new designed cable clutch, dose it feel like the old cable or not? If I got this upset about a fake gas cap on the left that has been fake for about 100 years I would just stay home and watch TV. BTW the old left cap was a gas gauge , no longer needed, I'm glad they have a fake one for looks on the left side. I do agree it should be fastened better to the bike. This is just a tiny thing that will work fine in time.
