have you pulled in the clutch an hit the starter button? I had this happen an it was the neutral switch sticking an if the "N" wasn't lit it wouldn't do anything without the clutch pulled in.

yes...the older bikes would start in gear an jump forward...my '15 won't...if the "N" light isn't on I have to pull in the clutch to get it to start. Look on the bars behind the clutch lever an you will see a button it pushes in when pulled.

OP has a 2006. My 2006 Heritage does not have a neutral switch.
1. You are getting power to the bike
2. The run/stop switch is working (you hear the fuel pump prime).
3. No noise at all from the starter.
You need to check the path from the starter switch to the starter - switch, starter relay, etc. Put a test light or meter on the starter solenoid wire and see if you get power when you push the start button.
Highly recommend you buy the service and electrical manuals - the electrical one has procedure trees that will help track down these types of problems.
