They ride superb if you just cruise around man, the front rake/trail means you will never tram line and can turn in across irregularities confidently ,but if you jet about the front end dive is alarming somewhat.

Bought my Springer new in '05. After a little over 12 years and a little over 112k miles, no problems what so ever, just twist the throttle and it goes and for me, it handles great. If I had the money to spare, I'd buy another one without any hesitation.

There are two types of Springers...

The FLSTS & FXSTS..... The FLSTS has a 16" front tire that is 5" wide, the FXSTS has a 21" front wheel that is 2.75" wide...

I would assume they have a different feel/ride due to the front tire size.

I've never ridden an FLSTS, but I recently bought an '01 FXSTS for a project/fun bike. It is the 3rd in my garage.

My other bikes are an '03 Heritage & '12 Limited.. Each bike has a different feel, different personality, and different comfort factor... They are 3 totally different bikes...

I love the hell out of the FXSTS....!! It has handlebars very similar to my old 1980 FXS Lowrider. And it has the same feel to it, even though it's a softail. It's very comfortable to ride. The Springer front suspension, even though it's like a 1947ish design, works really well. It's just too cool and rides well to boot....!

I bought the service/parts/electrical manuals for this bike and have read up on the Springer front end maintenance... While it requires a little more attention than the basic tube/slider front end.. it doesn't look like anything too daunting...

I still grab the Limited if I'm going on a multi-day trip, but I've been riding this Springer just about everywhere else... my Heritage is feeling neglected....

Did I mention I love this Springer.....?

I've had mine for 5 years now.... put 33k on her, not much but enough to know I'll only own Springers. I plan to add a heritage and crossbones to the stables eventually. They ride as beautifully as they look
