I just want to know if a all screaming eagle stage 1 is worth it and if it will increase power on first gear. First gear us so sluggish right now that a 103 can easily take it off the line. When 4 and 5 gear the bike comes alive! But it' aa long way to 4 from 0mph.
I would wait until the 3rd party performance makers reveal their new stage kits for the 2018 M8 engines. But that's me. It's like the longer you wait the better for yourself because the fast paced stage kit world keeps getting better year after year. And the M8's are designed with better performance in mind.
107 or 114? If its a 114 you already have a high flow air filter so probably not much to gain with just the street cannon mufflers. HD doesn't even show a dyno chart for a stage1 114. Should tell you something.
I ordered the new Rinehart pipes with slotted tips and power vision tuner from fuel moto. Then ordered the harley ventilator air cleaner. I wanted pipes anyways, so needed the tuner and well that led to the intake. Lol.
If you still have your 60 day factory warranty add window from purchase I'd consider looking hard at the warranty friendly stage 2. Both DanBO18 and myself have threads with our subjective reviews on this mod for our 114s. In short it's a nice bump in power and sound. More than any stage 1 power I've had by at least double...sound with the Canons is still on the mellow side compared to anything else, but I'm happy with it for now....plus warranty. If you're past that window and have a 107, I think a full stage 1 would be a nice starting place..I think if you have the 114 it would likely mostly be for more sound as it already breaths pretty good. Far as I know the only slip on with a cat in it is the SE Street Canons....anything else would void your warranty. My stock 114 was much stronger than a 103HO, are you comparing yours as a loaded 2-up tourer from your last trip to a solo 103? Was the 103 stock? Are you short shifting the lower gears? Mine had enough grunt to lighten the front wheel in the lower gears if I wound it up a bit...

Depends on what goes wrong, your dealer, and if your dealer is under the watchful eye of corporate. If you do pipes and you have an electrical problem you're fine. If you do a pipe and then have a problem with an O2 sensor or catalytic converter they will probably blame your pipe. I don't know how draconian HD can get when it comes to denying warranty work, but I've read a few threads where I'm at least a little cautious about going aftermarket.
In my case I firmly believe I've got some kind of engine or transmission knock/ping that is going to require replacement of part of the drive train. Bike runs fine but the noise is disconcerting. When I took the bike in for its 1k service the techs claimed they heard nothing out of the ordinary. I don't know if they didn't hear the noise (as it is somewhat random) or they heard the noise and decided it's "normal". Either way I intend to keep my factory warranty without any questions until the 2 years runs out (or the motor poops itself).
EDIT: btw, back to your sluggish comment. I thought the 107 pulled significantly better than my '15 103. I test rode a 107 SGS immediately after riding my 103 ULL and thought it pulled way better. Can you test ride another 107 to see if there's something else going on with your new bike?

History shows that every single aftermarket stage kit has out performed anything harley has ever offered. It's still super early so I would just wait for about a year and see what the dyno sheets offered by the manufacturers say. Also lets be realistic about the warranty, if you want a modded out, performance machine, with all the hp and torque you can handle well you don't get a warranty other than the parts manufacturer anyway. Harleys warranty is for stock bikes and weak harley stage kits. They have and will always have the power to void your warranty and I have never seen a court case proving otherwise. Other than maybe the guy with the flags and powertrain controversy last year. Don't be custom if you can't be custom.
