I was at my dealer on Thursday waiting upstairs in their coffee lounge while they did the 1K service, and I heard a really nice sounding bike going down the street. Looked out the window and it was the tech riding mine down the street. That made me smile as it's difficult to really hear the tone of your own bike while you are riding along with a FF helmet on.
Thanks so much for posting! I found this really helpful, and love the sound of the Grand Nationals.
If you don't mind me asking: how did you alter the bike's tune for the new pipes please? Leave as is? HD official tuner? FuelPak 3?
I'm considering the S&S air cleaner, or the HD Heavy Breather, and am wondering how to tune. I've been very pleased with the FP3 on my Ultra Limited, but there's plenty of space to leave it mounted on that bike. I'm not sure if there's room on the Fat Bob.

Hard to beat that! It's like finding out someone won the lottery...and holy crap the ticket is in YOUR pocket!

Many thanks in advance for your help.
I have the stage 1 download with the SEST. There is now a slight popping on decel due (I think) to the reduction in back pressure with the Grand Nationals. As ADM has noted before, the S&S mufflers have a 2" core, whereas the Street Cannons are 1'1/4" The popping isn't bad enough to make me want to do something about it immediately, although down the road I may spring for the cables and use the SEST's tuning program to true it up. It's a nice, mellow tone now, neither too loud nor too muted.

I don't know anything about the internals of those pipes, but a simple "lollipop" inside the pipe near the outlet end might be all you need. DK Customs make Thunder Torque Inserts which are nicely finished, but otherwise an I-bolt or flat washer welded to a bolt might do the trick if there's anyplace handy to mount it....a baffle mounting bolt perhaps? You want it to fill the pipe to within about a 1/4 inch around. Basically they prevent the reversion of air back into the pipe. They also do not adversely effect the sound...of anything they make it a bit deeper - at least the TTIs do. I recommend them if they'll fit. Low cost as well.

Our Thunder Torque Inserts™ will help with that decel pop you're describing.
They will also give you a gain in low and mid range torque.
They deepen the tone of your exhaust a bit as well, giving it a throatier growl.
