Heritage Softail Classic - potential buyer
I am considering trading in my 2009 FXDC for 2018 Heritage Anniversary with 114 engine, blue and black paint. I think 1200 will be produced, rumored for January 2018. I have read very little negative comment, except for basic style comments, no chrome, too expensive, bad stock exhaust etc. The new engines are apparently performing well but most of the noise is from dealers. Anyone have good or bad news on the New Heritages?
With limited production the two dealers I have talked to offer no reduction from MSRP but is it reasonable to expect some incentive from HD dealers? I have heard only one comment on Utube from a new FatBob owner that his dealer "gave" him a $750.00 Gift card. My dealer is offering %10 off on parts. OH my how generous! I get that at ACE for being a veteran, and at the movies for being old.
Sorry I rant.
I've spent some time with the new Softails. This LINK has a report and a couple of Youtube reviews in it that you may find useful.
Most dealerships are not discounting much....but that does not matter, you only need one.
I would recommend deciding exactly what you want, getting your $/financing all lined up, then calling around the country and letting each dealership know you ARE GOING TO BE Buying XYZ bike and the money is all lined up. Do they have the bike you are looking for, and if so, what is their best price.
Even if it is a $500 flight away, if you call enough places, you will probably be able to save thousands.

The Anniversary Heritage is not available yet but both dealers I have talked to have asked for money down to secure a bike they don't know when they will get. Gotta love it but I am crazy for a new bike so they got me. With a cash purchase my only negociating power seems to be the value of my bike and whatever I can get them to do for extras. The Richmond HD offered me $4000 trade for the bike shown, I did not go back. I would like to do a stage 2 kit so I am going to speak to them tomorrow about exhaust and stage 2. The 114 comes with high flow intake so stage 1 is just exhaust. Vague answers about voided warranty unless I stick with slip ons which is OK with me. I am thinking mufflers, tuner, and cams should be enough for an old man on a 114. I know you still buy an new beautiful 2016 for $15,600 and the new Anniversary will be around $23,000 out the door without stage 2. Hard to justify, you only llive once.
Thanks again.
In any case I am thinking that it would be cheaper for me, to buy a 2nd hand bike located in the east side, since this will be shipped on a vessel to Greece.
Other option would be to buy it from TX, as the shipping company I will use has a branch there and they wont charge too much to bring it to the dock of Baltimore.
But I believe it would cost much more to buy it from the west states and then send it to Greece.
Anyway, what's happening with the sales taxes? Is this the cause I see big difference in the prices of identical bikes of same year and similar mileage? Or is there any other explanation?
