Those stock drag bars are agreeably a pain in the back! Felt like a dirt bike. I couldn't find any Apes that went well with the springer front end (to my taste). And I searched a lot! I settled for these "Wild Ones" risers. Did (just barely) the fit without too much hassle. That few inches made a huge difference in the comfort. Sitting much straighter now. I suspect that you are going to be into your wallet to the tune of $600 or more all said and done (new cables, hoses etc.).
I have an '07 and like the flat bars. But I had seen an '08 when i was buying mine that had the higher bars. Still have a couple of pictures of it. The bars stopped me from buying this one, but someone snapped it up right away. The bars looked a little wide to me.
Here's a tip that "may" be helpful, I don't know.
I recently did a set of 12 inch apes on 4 inch risers on a CVO Springer. Ordered the kit from Hillcountry. Well it turned out his CVO Springer had a hydraulic clutch. Boy was it a beotch to get bars that fit a Springer AND were notched for that left side hydraulic assembly. Hillcountry did everything to help, but we still wound up grinding chrome on a otherwise flawless bike. So IF your year Springer has a hydraulic clutch, be advised, that may be an issue, and bar selection may be very limited unless your willing to modify stuff.
When I wanted to put some apes on my 05 Springer, I found some from wild one that I liked. I've had them for around 11 years or so and no complaints. I'm 6' so I went with 16" and after they were put on my 4" risers, they are about even with my shoulders.
