The 98 should be simple (actually most are).
Remove the caliper (and support) then the wheel.
No ABS exc. just make sure you keep the assembly separated (side to side and in order) mainly the spacers.
Find out what the torque is (how to tighten properly) before you put it back together.
How is the front tire, good time to replace if needed (or close).
A bike jack would be helpful.
A side note: I love the EVO's, I miss my 94.
The idle is so much sweeter than the newer FI bikes
