Default broken chaincase drain plug

Hi, I'm new here, just found the board a few nights ago. So I was out riding my 2007 FLSTC today an found a manhole cover that caught my primary drain bolt. It knockedthe drain plugout and took out the back half of the threaded hole it screws into. The only good part is I caught it a few blocks later a trailered it back to the house. It looks like the way the bolt sticks out I may not be the first person this has happened to. Is there a solution to this that won't leave me in the poor-house. I retrived the bolt and the small piece of broken metal. It is 1/2" X 1/2" x 1/4". Can this be welded back?
Thanks in advance,David

Sure can: If you were closer, I'd weld it for you. Find someone with atig welder and use a #4043 filler rod. Gouge the repair area and use a blender disc to reshape the finished weld. Weld the original drain hole over and then drill and retap the hole and bead blast. It's like it didn't exist when done correctly. About an hour and you're good to go. By the way, don't take that greasy chit into the welder. Clean it first and he will be in a better mood when he starts

Thanks for the reply. I took it to the stealer today. Not sure about pulling the clutch and primary without a manual.
