Default RE: Chaincase Plug

On the twin cam primary case, the drain bolt is a torx head. Depending on how bad you stripped it, go to the next bigger size toex bit and hammer it in, put your ratchet on and take it off. If the bolt was installed correctly, it should only have something like 70 in./lbs of torque on it.

Default Primary Chaincase bolt stripped inside case

Changing fluids I drained primary chaincase fluid put on new gasket ring and was tighting bolt back in it would never tighten. Removed plug and found pieces of metal on the bolt itself. I guess the metal came from the case itself. How screwed I'm I and how do I fix please.

Looks like we have two problems here...one can't get it out and another can't get it to stay in.

HFD....sounds like you got some of the aluminum galled to the bolt and are likely headed to drill-n-tap territory. I don't recall what year they moved away from the NPT threaded plug, but I would not re-tap to NPT. I'd try and determine the smallest size regular fine-threaded bolt I could drill-n-tap for and seal it with a plastic/fiber washer. You will have to be very careful and make sure you get it tapped straight so the washer will fit flush on the case.

CHAM....if it won't come out like STRIPPEDTHREAD1 suggested...you may also be headed for drill-n-tap territory. Another choice is to simply leave it alone and change your primary fluid through the chain inspection cover, but I am not sure when they stopped putting those in either.

There is no serious pressure build up in the primary guys and what little there is...is vented through the center of the transmission mainshaft where the push rod lives and on out the transmission vent. Point being....it sounds like both these plugs were installed much too tight. When you get them fixed.....just wrap them with Teflon tape and snug them in.
