Default Saddlebags for an FLSS?

I did a search but this forums search engine seemed to return so many hits that didn't even have saddlebags in the thread... So apologies for starting this thread if one exists.

I've got a 2017 FLSS in Olive Denim. I'm going to be taking a roadtrip in a couple months and need to be able to bring a few days of clothes, rain gear, personal items, etc. Looking for removable bags as I don't want them mounted all the time.

I looked on the HD website and they do have bags for the FLSS although not in a "tan" color which I prefer and the styling isn't quite what I want either. It also requires a docking kit, which i understand, and a turn-signal, license plate relocation kit. I kinda like where my license plate and turn signals are, BUT if I need to relocate those items so be it.

Other sites that sells bags that I like, specifically state they'll fit Softails, but NOT the FLSS.

I've seen some people make their own brackets, and while I'm mechanically inclined, I'm not good at or really know how to fabricate things.

Any help would be appreciated!

TIA

Talk to Ammie at Leatherworks she can fix you up.
I am running her quick disconnect bags on my 2017 Slim.

The main problem you have with saddelbags is the same as on the fatboy. The stacked exhaust pipes eat up the clearance available to other softails so your selection is limited. Bags that will fit don't have enough space to make the investment worth the cost.

Bags are an expensive proposition for just one trip then dumping them on a shelf in the garage when you're done. You'll get more carry capacity with a sissy bar, barrel bag, and some back support for the trip too. Might want to consider it.

there are a few out there and how they did the conversion wasnt cheap. theres also a company i saw on facebook who makes a whole rear end kit for the 2018 models. i talked to him about making the kit for the 2017 models and he said they take more fab work to get done. it wont be a budget friendly investment in the end but looks kinda cool if done right

and a buddy from the softail slim fb pages bike. she dumped a whole lot of $$$ into that bike

ill try and find the company and post it here

Hmm, the Sissy bar idea may actually be the best option for me. I do have a big "Dry Bag" I use on my ADV bike, which I could strap to a Sissy bar...

With a Slim you have few options.

Cycle Visions makes a set of brackets to fit the struts and they except any FLH style bag. You can also go with Viking, they have a few slap over leather bags that don't require relocation of the turn signals or license plate.

Small bags will be necessary if you haven't modified the exhaust. Any aftermarket exhaust that drops the tail pipe below the axle nut will allow a full set of bags.
