its time to rebuild my carb. I have a 01 Fatboy. Has screaming eagle heads, all internals have been done, clutch pack and spring done, straight pipes no baffles. Screaming eagle air cleaner. Revtech 6 speed swap. Dyno'd at 109 HP to the wheel. So I'm assuming it's not a stock carb, how can I easily identify the carb? I'm the second owner of the bike.
im unsure what rebuild kit to buy cause I don't know what kind of carb it is and what it will take.
Impossible for us to know what kind of carb you have without a description and/or pictures.
Reaper puts nearly 100 hp and 115 ft-lbs to the rear wheel using a stock, rejetted, CV40, so it's not necessarily true that you have a non-stock carb.
Yeah that... While the OEM carb was often the first thing changed, many people modded their bikes using the CV40...
The CV40 carb is actually a really good carb up to 100HP or slightly over (if properly jetted).... Too many people don't give the CV40 a fair chance. Plus it's easy to tune, adjust and rebuild.
The CV40 would be the OEM carb, on your '01 softail. That's what I had on my '01 Softail.
Look to see if it has an OEM part number on the carb. I had a black sticker with "27421-99A" on the throttle cable side of my CV 40 carb.
Of course a few pics would also help....
