Default Width of handlebar and control - Fatboy

In my mind I have it that with a wide set of bars you will have better ride control, especially with the wider front tyres. I bought a 2012 Fatboy with 14" apes on and I hate it, the ride, the feel everything. I'm now looking into drag or T bars and found a set I like, but they are only 24" wide vs the stock setting of 30" and the current width of the apes that is 36" wide.
My main concern is how will this affect handling? Will the narrow grip make it too "light" i.e. too much direct effect on the steering? Anyone with experience pros and cons please.

I have had some narrower bars in past, but never anything near as narrow as what you are looking at now. One advantage of the wider bars I have found is less effort needed in the turns, since you have more leverage. I would expect more push needed to get bike turned into corners with the bars you are looking at. Post some pics if you go that route - curious how the narrow bars look on the fatter front end.

My .02 - I have a 2018 FB and the bars are near perfect.

I always found the best handling are drag bars with a mild forward lean. Less pressure with better response. Width from center only matter from a comfort perspective. I find apes are good if the right ht for a more comfortable upright position.

Width gives more leverage. You'll also get more leverage the more inside your elbows are.

Most people don't feel comfortable with their elbows on the inside though because of the wrist position it causes. Personally, the best control I've ever had were with buckhorns but they look funky to most folks. You get both the width and the elbow position though. A set of retro longhorn bars will do the same too.

U-Haul motorcycle trailer. I just picked up a bike Friday. Cost me $26 with insurance and tax. Oh forgot, and I bought a set of motorcycle straps on Amazon for $30.
