Probably true with an older bike where you need a key, but if thieves can just use a device to activate the ignition it's just a case of riding off. Yep definitely have your insurance paid up, but if your bike goes missing your insurance for your next bike is going to be a lot more expensive.

I have two bikes that use fobs, and two bikes that don't need a key or fob. If I park in an area that I'm concerned about theft...I use the steering lock. That will keep most from sitting on it, starting it, and riding away. It won't keep a determined thief from loading it up in a van.
Every now and then, on an over night stay somewhere, I'll use a chain and lock to add an extra layer of hassle for the more determined thief.
