Talking Grasshopper Backrests

Huge shout-out to Lonnie at Grasshopper, Ltd.! I ordered a backrest from him early last winter and explained I wouldn't be able to try it until Spring. It turned out to be a little thick for me when I actually rode this spring. I emailed Lonnie and he immediately answered and said he'd build me thinner one, send it to me with a return label and that was it! Amazing attitude and over the top customer service. The thinner one works great and I couldn't be happier with the whole process and product.

THANKS, LONNIE AT GRASSHOPPER!

Standard 'I don't work there' disclaimer......

He bent one up for me to give me more room. He sent it without me sending the one i bought back to him first. A real stand up guy that knows what he is doing and how to treat a customer.

I ride solo without the pillion pad. Does someone have a close up pic of the hardware when the backrest is not attached? Is it very noticeable as I would only use it for long rides?

Thanks,

Thanks,
I think it depends on the bike.
My Deluxe is the same hardware that holds the seat rail on.
I can snap a shop this afternoon if you want one.

Mine sits on top of the seat bracket and under a motherwell chrome rack. Even without the rack, it's barely noticeable. Black on black.

I have one too. Don't use it that much unless it's a longer ride but it's a great little backrest.....especially for the $$! Love how you can just throw it on or pull it right off. I highly recommend trying one if you want a low cost and high quality backrest.

My Cherry has a Reach Seat that pushes me forward quite a bit. When I installed a Grasshoppeer Backrest it was useless because of the seat. Could not lean that far back so I removed it and just figured I had just lost the cost of the backrest.

After reading this thread I thought he might be able to something for me, so I sent Lonnie a bunch of photos and measurements. He said to give him a few days and he thinks he can do something for me. Kinda makes me want to believe there are actually some good guys out there.

Will let you all know what he comes up with when I find out.

Well I did not hear from him again, but today a box showed up with a modified backrest that is perfect.

All I can say is Thank you Lonnie.
