Ok, here's the deal. I'm about to order a Mustang Solo seat in a day or so and I'd like to see what the majority of yall think. I'm either going with, or without the backrest. I've previoiusly run a one piece Mustang without the backrest and never an issue at all and was perfectly comfortable and being the backrests are not exactly cheap lol... if I don't need one, then there are other things I do need. I've not ever ridden with one and it almost seems as if I'd kick the damn thing every time I got on the bike lol...
For those short jaunts around town if you don't want it pull it off...
But for those LONG 500+ mile days where you wish you had back support... Just plop the backrest in the hole on the seat and PRESTO... You got yourself a backrest...
Believe me its REALLY GREAT!!!
I just sold my Solo w/ backrest, passenger combo so that I can pick up the touring one piece w/ backrest...
I have the back rest but do not use it. I either don't have it at the right hight or it just isn't for me. At least if you get it, you have the option.
This is a no brainer. Backrest all the way. It folds down and stays down. I'm 5-7and it never gets in my way. I wouldn't ride without it........Even to go to the mini mart.
Buy it, you'll like it. It took me a few rides to get use to it and to get it adjusted right. I don't use it for short rides to my office or out for dinner because....let's face it...it looks better with out it. But for a 20+ mile ride I use it. Once you get it adjusted right, and it might change for each ride or even during a ride, I found it worth the money. Keep in mind that you probably wont lean back into it lie a barka-lounger, as it's really for support. The idea being to have it so it's just pressing on your back somewhere and not digging in. So again, it might take somedifferent rides to get it schmoozy. And some people I've met use it all the time, so everyone is different. And the quality of the chrome is very, very nice.
after puting a stang seat on my bike last fall i have often wished i had a back rest. i think if you have apes you would really benefit from it on long rides just for a break. but i have no experiance withone so WTF do I know?
