Default Risers or Mini Apes?

guys I’m new to the forum. I have an 03 night train lowered a bit in the back RSD rear fender and seat. I have 2 inch risers with drag bars up front. I love the look but hate the ride. 40 min of riding is as much as my lower back can take before I need to pull over. Im being told 6-8 pullback risers will solve the problem ALSO being told mini apes will do the same thing. I just don’t like the way pullback risers look but my back is more important. Anyway anyone done both with advice or recommendations?

Well since you asked haha I would say go with the mini-apes, I have major lower back issues as well and those bars solved the problem on multiple bikes! Stay safe

FWIW I've felt that pain riding the stock Mini-ape setup on my '06 Superglide, a 2" straight riser alleviated my problem. Pullbacks or Mini-apes, either will likely ease your pain/discomfort. It probably comes down to which look you prefer.

On your bike I would go for the pullback rises over the mini apes. It keeps the same slammed profile Abd gives your back some relief.

Personally I don't like the look of tall risers and straight bars. But it's your bike, you'll get almost the same results comfort wise.
And the tall risers would give you somewhere to strap **** to.

Welcome to the forum. Take it from me, I'm above average height and go through handlebar swaps on all of my bikes like it's nothing so I've done the research. See how you're sitting in that pic? With a set of apes, you'll be pretty much in that same position, no strain on the lower back. The mini-ape kit would probably be just right. Having said that, if you want to keep the look (or similar to it) maybe a set of street slammers? I believe they have some pullback to them without giving you the bit of "ugly" that some people seem to think pullback risers give some bikes. I do think a 6-8" pullback would be too much, and really not give you the same look. I've had 18" on Heritage, Mini on Fatboy and Breakout. I got blasted by some people when I used mini apes on my Breakout with the stock pullback riser, but it looked OK and was much more comfy...

Current Custom, with 16's. With the apes, the more adjustable positions you can get. Move them forward to get you more upright, move them backward for a more relaxed position. I prefer more forward than inline with the forks, it really straightens out the back and gives a more "aggressive" look:

Thanks for the responses. I’m thinking apes is best now. I’m 6 foot 220 pounds. Should I go 14 or 16 inch apes?
