Are there any small parts that it would be wise to carry? Like a cam sensor or starter relay? Anything that is prone to going out on a twin cam, yet easily carried which could save a tow, or leaving the bike?
Yeah, that goes without saying. But some bikes, and cars, regardless of brand, come to be known for having certain parts being problematic. Carrying a relay in the tool bag takes up very little space, is easy to replace, and could save a tow or having to call someone to bring one out. But only if that particular part tends to fail suddenly and often enough to warrant carrying a spare. In the places I ride cell service is anything but reliable. I'm new to Harley's but on some of my other bikes and cars I have carried and/or still do carry certain small parts.
Your bike is the same vintage as mine. I haven’t had an unexpected failure of any sort except for a battery in eight years of ownership.
Knock on wood.
In all seriousness: a roll of duct tape and zip ties are with me on Reaper all the time. And I've used both on a number of occasions. One of the most memorable was a few years ago: I was on my way to Chicago from Ottawa (about 800 miles). I was about halfway there, near Erie, PA, and I lost my headlight bezel. Luckily, the headlight stayed attached to the harness inside the bucket. Of course, it was late, and the closest dealers didn't have the bezel in stock. It was getting dark, and I really had to get to my destination that day, so I busted out my duct tape, and taped the headlight into the bucket. That "repair" lasted a week+, through all sorts of weather, including quite a lot of rain, until my local dealer could get the part in stock. I never leave home without it, now!
After having a window broken out of our van many years ago while away from home I now carry duct tape in all or our cars. I have electricians tape in my tool bag but perhaps a small roll of gorilla tape would be better. Does duct tape count as chrome?

Spare battery for the key fob...if you have an alarm.

Believe it or not, you CAN buy "chrome" coloured duct tape!
