Freak wind storm over the weekend during my clubs quarterly ride. A sheet of corrugated metal blew through our bikes, hitting mine and a few others. Scratched up my tank and fender, bashed in the side cover and cut the seat and fender bib. Good thing I just paid the insurance premium including acts of nature.
I got the bike on a good deal, never was 100% happy on the Twisted Cherry color, but every one seems to like it. I really hate the seat but not sure I want to go the Mustang seat as its big, but comfortable. I had one on my Dyna but seemed to big for that bike.
Any thoughts on whether you would change the color? Also other comfy seats out yet?
Yes, bike was parked. Just dont see point in replacing the stock seat but have to go through Harley for insurance reasons.
I only want a solo seat, and looks like only the Sundowner is sold through the dealership. Is the Sundowner much wider than stock? The stock seat position was fine, but want something firmer.
It is your opinion regarding the color that counts! However, I Love my Cherry as do all that see it, so I'm bias.
When I put the Reach seat on my bike, I was able to try it at the dealership before I bought it. I would think if you are considering the Sundowner you should be able to try it before you buy it. If you do go with it I would think the dealer would allow you to apply the insurance coverage for the stock seat towards the Sundowner.
Hated to see such damage to such a pretty bike, but glad you have insurance coverage that will cover the repairs.
Let us know how things go with the repairs and search for a seat.
On a new bike a color change would hurt value.... Id keep it stock.. The seat, I think Saddlemen just came out with a seat. I got one for my 18 FB.. Just glad it wasnt worse..
I am in the Philippines and they dont have a selection of seats to try out. I have sat on both Sundowners and Mustang seats, but not on a 2018 HC so not sure if they seat different on our bikes. Since its insurance money, need to go through the dealership which I believe limits me to the Sundowner.
Still undecided on the paint as need to respray both tank and rear fender. The blue and black color is really my favorite. Just not sure about the quality of painters at the dealership. They are owned by the Mercedes Benz franchise so I think they share the same same paint facilities so it should come out ok in which ever color I go with.
Dont really care about the resale value as I plan to hold it for a long time.
Not sure what kind of insurance you have, but I dont understand why you would be limited to Harley seats. You should be able to put any seat you want on it.
