1992 Softail Custom Purchase
I am going to look at a 1992 Softail Custom later today and never owned an Evo. Is there anything specific I should be looking out for with this bike? Anything I should check before committing? Besides the obvious...

I had a 1992 Evo FXR years ago good bike did around 40,000 odd miles on it before trading it in. The only problem I had was the return Spring go in the gearbox, which did a bit of damage at 11,000 miles which Harley paid to have fixed. The main problem as I recall, and it never effected by bike was that in 92 they went from Torrington bearings in the gearbox I think it was to INLA bearing which were said to be inferior and could fail more easily, as I say I never had a problem but I'm not sure when in 92 they changed over to them. Anyway good luck with yours wish I had one.

that's a good idea they know those bikes....there was a year or two that had cracking cases pop up....I would think if it was going to happen it would have happened by now...just gotta know where to look.
