Default Neutral Switch Question

I have a 2002 Harley Heritage Classic. I had a Revtech 6 speed gearset put in and long story short, it's not shifting like it should. Had a falling out with the guy who put it in so I called Custom Chrome where it came from and was lucky to speak with a really cool tech. He made some suggestions on the hard shifting and one was to back out the neutral switch a little and see if the bike shifted easier. He said there's a washer the guy should have put in under the neutral switch after the gearset install. Well there was a fairly bad oil leak coming from the top of the oil drain line under the tank as well. So took out the oil tank which gave me good access to the neutral switch. So tried turning it and it will start to turn then it hits something inside the case and stops. How do I back it out if it is hitting something inside the trans ? Can't call the tech until Monday. Was curious if anyone here ran into this before.
Thanks !!

Wow no one ran into this, or has any suggestions ? I'll be heading back home today. I've been out of state and will do some things suggested by the CCI tech and another bike shop.
