Was just reading the Top speed M-8 posts. Now I'm curious and not at all meaning to brag. However, I've run to 118 MPH (once) on my 2010 FatBoyLo. Saddle bags and heritage style windscreen. Sixth gear. That was my poor man dyno run after increasing the cu in to 107 from 96 and adding mid level prepared twin can heads. I also run a Thundermax fuel tuner a Red shift 575 lift cam, hydro solid lifters, S&S roller rockers, smoothed 48 mm throttle body, D&D Fat Cat 2 into one exhaust, (No sumping). Stock bottom end. Full throttle with 94 Octane fuel.Naturally this is not where I drive (fly) but was one of those do once episodes in life. Exhilarating for sure. So I'd like to see similar posts sharing your top speed experiences on Softails. Stock and modified.
I've only had my Fat Bob up to 115 so far and she felt like she had more in her but I wasn't willing to push it with the front tire shaking/bouncing around so badly at that speed so I backed off. I think the front tire is out of round. Once I have better tires I will push it to max speed and let you know! Oh by the way she has a stock 114" motor.

I've had Reaper over 125 mph (GPS confirmed), and still accelerating. At the time, the heads had been done by Head Quarters, and she had the HQ-0039G cams, carb rejet, etc... but not the big bore/high comp she has now. Vance and Hines Straight Shots with baffles, no windshield, and 14" apes. Stock bottom end, and 5 speed transmission (this was in 5th gear). I was hunched down but the wind resistance was still insane, heheh... even at that speed, she was stable.
Thought this was a gardening thread ...
Top speed on a Harley ,never considered it..MMMMM..Although,How many old dudes here remember doing well over a hundred on their 500 ,750 Kawi's.. with terrible brakes,no helmets zoom zoom zoom ..
110 on my factory 2018 breakout (114 M8) with wife on the back
197 on my R-1
I didnt buy the Breakout to go fast. In fact coming from sport bikes i find it interesting people dump so much $$$ into trying to make these things more powerful. A $4,000 sport bike will take any modded HD all day, not sure why people spend the money. To each their own I guess.
But yeah 110 on the Breakout. It had more, but the lack of windscreen makes it not very enjoyable.
I ride aggressively 99% of the time. I have buried the needle more then once. Have yet to hit redline in 6th. So they run, and run hard. Mine isnt stock and since regearing it wont go as fast on the top end. But I am sure she can still bury it. With the new gearing it's more out of the whole and snag a wheelie at speed then top ending her.
My ride is a 16 Fatboy S with a 117 stage 4, regeared to 30t-70t, 2into1 Squeeks Big Twins Sidewinder Exhaust, iridium plugs and 12mm twisted plug wires. So she rolls with no problem. Shes my torque monster. Just waiting on new cams and throttle body then getting her dyno'ed.
