Just for bench racing...what is the top speed you guys and gals have seen from your stockish EVO's? Not race motors.
I had my old girl up to 90 a couple of times out in Mexico on a closed road of course. But it tends to be windy in Mexico so I didn't go for the 100 mark.
With nearly 1000 lbs and only 70 HP (factory rating 60k miles ago) I don't think she had much more.
Curious what the forum has seen. In closed road conditions of course.
I like to know these things. Just for fun, here's a helmet cam of one of my top speed runs in my Vette at the Miami Mile event. About a buck-85 on this run, which is redline in 5th with 4.10 gears and 345/30/19 tires...took 450 rwhp to move this 3400 lbs to this speed.
My stock 93 did a bit under a ton. Or for you non-English rockers: 90-99 mph.
Slightly modified with EV27, SuperTrapps, Dyna2000 ignition, street porting, and carb tune: A buck ten. For you non-American's that's 110 mph. and that was two up. My 240 pounds and my wife's 130.
Bear in mind, that doing the ton with a stock ElectraGlide Sport, with stock Dunlops and large windshield, is a handful.
Mine is stock with air cleaner and pipes. I hit 90 this weekend and it felt like the front end started bouncing. I've been riding a Heritage for the last 11 years, so maybe the front end weight made it feel different. ON an unrelated matter, my TC88B will do about 110, but it's no fun on a Harley that fast to me. In high school with muscle cars…well that was a different story.
Hackd I would agree it is a lot nicer at 70 than 90. The Vette was a dream at 185 but not so nice on the Harley at 90.
Perfect highway speed for my FLHS is 70-75. Above that, it just requires too much attention. I can run all day (and have) at that speed, get in the high 40's mpg, and not be worn out when I'm sitting in the bar later that night having dinner.
Our 1999 C5:
Could 'cruise' all day at 100 and never break a sweat. The stock 5.7L, 345hp LS1 engine was more than enough to get me into trouble. I wonder what the new C7 with it's 6.2L, 455hp LT1 engine is like? Or the Z06/Z07 625hp LT4?
We've since 'downsized' to:
2009 Saturn Sky Red Line. Turbo Charged I-4. This matches my attention level better.
