Default led upgrade

Hey,
I'm a newer rider and just bought my first Harley, I bought a 2002 Heritage Softail classic. Does anyone know what led bulb I can use to replace the existing halogen bulbs ?

I used these on my 2017 Heritage. I checked, and it has fitment for the 02, as well. Hell of a deal, and I recommend them.

To clarify, this link is for the Sunpie headlight and passing lamp kit. NOT just a bulb. I replaced them all in about 20 minutes and I very much like the increased ability to see...and most importantly...to BE seen.

There are people who will sell you whatever you want to buy, and they will tell you whatever you want to hear, but I wouldn't recommend replacing halogen bulbs with LEDs. If there is a complete DOT-approved LED headlight assembly (the housing and everything) that can be installed on your motorcycle, there's nothing wrong with that.

The shape of the reflector in reflector-beam headlights (like halogen headlights, for example) are designed to focus the light, putting it in the correct plate on the road, and not in the eyes of oncoming motorists. Halogen bulbs, like all incandescent bulbs, emit light from the filament. The location and orientation of that filament works with the reflector, to do it's job.

Installing an LED (or HID) "conversion" in a reflector-beam headlight housing originally designed for a halogen bulb, would be like wearing someone else's glasses- there's no reason to believe that the reflector would be able to focus that light where it needs to go.

If you drive or ride at night, I'm sure you've seen all the meth users in their tweaker-mobiles driving around with their "converted" headlights, and they're blinding to oncoming motorists, but actually put very little light on the road.

I would also pass on "colored" halogen headlight bulbs. They actually put out less light than normal halogen bulbs, although the light is harsher, so it makes you think that they're more powerful.

^^ This. It is made even more so when you consider the price of H-D Daymaker LEDs. There are a good number on the forum that have gone this route and are very happy with them.

I have the H-D Daymaker as it came standard on my Slim. What a difference over the convention bulb H-D installed.

I upgraded everything with cheap *** led bulbs and I am happy with results. Everything works as expected so not sure what the whole deal about not using led bulbs is. On 2002 you might want to use load equalizer for everything to work properly. Took about 100$ to upgrade all the lights on my Slim

I have a 2016 Heritage. Was yours plug and play without any issues for adapters or fitment? Thanks!
