Default Stripped foot peg mount.

While trying to remove the forward controls on my 2018 fat bob. To install a crash bar. The torx head bolt pretty much just spund through. I took my time trying to loosen it up and when it felt like it was just about to break the bit spun. As I write this now i should have hit it with a heat gun...... which is my next step. Any other ideas if i need to tap it what do you suggest?

Sorry to hear that man. I sure hate those torx heads. They seem to strip out very easily if you don't have everything just perfect and apply pressure as you turn. Maybe a bolt extractor bit will work to pull it out?

If the bolt extractor doesn't work, you can do what I did, maybe, on a similar situation. I used my Dremel tool to create a slot for a wide flat head, then used the flathead screwdriver with a hammer to slowly bang it out.

Can try to drill the top off. Once its off, then the controls should come off. Then without the tension, use some heat and vice grips to remove.

Ya, those are usually red Loc-tited in. Should have used heat. Get a pipe wrench on it, use heat and go slow.

Just a suggestion, have you tried a impact driver, the manual one you hit with a hammer? Works great for getting stubborn screws loose, I bought mine at NAPA. If you aren't familiar just go to Amazon to see one. Good luck Ride safe.

I installed a crash bar on my 18 Fat Bob, and I don't recall any of the bolts being red loctited. I mean, maybe I don't remember every detail, but I certainly didn't have to go to any extremes to get the bolts out. As such, I would expect you just got unlucky; maybe the Dremel trick with some heat is all you need to do?

I can't help, but hopefully you will be able to solve this easier than you might be fearing. Good luck!

which crash bar the harley one? It looks like that one just uses the open thread between the forward controls. I got the bung king 2 step which mounts to every hole down there pretty much. Yes im pretty bummed as to not being able to get either of the left forward control bolt loose.
