You could get a HD dealer to do a stage one flash, but that tune must comply with EPA regulations with regards to air/fuel mixture. The bike will still run too lean/hot and the tune will be FAR from great, and I don't recommend it!.....This would be the least expensive option.
You could also get the bike professionally dyno tuned, depending on the guy doing the tuning, this could give you the best results. You would need to buy a tuner or a license for the shop to use theirs. Again, the tune will only be as good as the guy doing the tuning, so do your home work if you go this route..... It's also the most expensive option.
Another option is to buy a tuner and flash a new map to the ECM, then auto tune if needed. I use a Vance & Hines FP3 tuner on both my bikes and love it! Its very simple to use and both bikes run great. It will also handle stage 2 (cam upgrades), which I've done on both bikes. It has a lot of cool features including real time data that can be viewed on the fly with a cell phone. There are better options out there if going beyond stage 2, but if not, I highly recommend the FP3. You can download the app and play around with it in "Demo Mode" and check out all the features...This option costs a lot less then a dyno, still gives great results, and you own the tuner, so if you make changes in the future you can flash a new map and/or auto tune.
Post some pics when you get your mods done.....here's mine.
Welcome to the Rocker C club, also known as those whoa re continously broke.
It is a great starting point, my advise is to ditch the seats and get a Heartland conveersion, this allows all kinds of flexibility for luggage racks, back rests, pax seat and still makes you look like you ride solo! It also shows of that big fat tyre!!! You know you can just fit a 260 Metzler in there?
Oh yeah, you will also need to buy a Shotgunshock, to get that slammed look!!
Enjoy spending your savings!!
