So I went and took a look at it. When I got there they were no longer honoring the $7999 price. As you can see, they removed the price from the web. They jacked the price up to $9000. Ultimately, even IF the price would have stayed the same, I was not impressed by how it looked. And for me, if I don't instantly fall in love with it, I'm not going to bother test riding. The denim paint had lots of hairline scratches. The bike sounded good with short shots, but I just got away from short shots. It would have been a 96 cu in for 96 cu in, I feel my next trade I need more out of it.
I then took my Dyna out for a ride Saturday with my wife on her Sportster, and it solidified for me I made the right choice. It was such a good ride, it made me think that part of "wanting to trade" was the stir craziness of not riding a lot with the season change. We went 85 miles but as we lost light, we lost our warmth, or we would have gone longer. An easy 20 Degree swing in some valleys lol.
Thanks for everyone's input. I'm sure that fatboy is great bike, but I know exactly what mine is... and for the peace of mind, it was the right call for me. Cheers Fellas!
It happens - new bike insanity. It's happened to me several times, recently when I was looking at a new Sport Glide. You see a good deal on a new bike and picture yourself on a new one. Everything all shiny and new.
Then you ride your current bike and realize what a great ride it is. Takes a while to calm down.

I'll school you on the fat boy lo compared to the dyna( I've owned both and have ridden well over 20k miles on each). Poor performance, poor handling, decent comfort and AMAZING aesthetics.
The wide tire twin cam fatboys are, in my opinion, one of the best looking harleys ever made. However, they don't handle great and are underpowered. In stock form they are ok for comfort since they have floorboards and a decent seat.
A dyna of the same year will out perform and out maneuver the fat boy in any situation. I prefer dynas with mid controls and some sort of highway peg. I think the floorboards take the win for comfort though. As for looks the dynas look great but the fatboy looks even better.
if you enjoy aggressive riding stick with the dyna.
if you just want to cruise around without getting the heart pumping pick up the softail.

Just picked up a 2013 Fatboy lo in Candy Orange this weekend. Should get it delivered Tuesday. I've got a 883 Sporty and a 2011 Road King. I'm looking forward to putting a softail in the stable. Maybe I can weigh in on this subject in a few months.
I love my Slim. Comfy and not so heavy. I also upgraded from Sportster and I miss XL kick as this was really fast bike on acceleration (1200 cc) but I am glad I did that upgrade. Still dialing my comfort but this is great improvement over sporty.
