Default Help. Finding right engine guard for 1998 softail

I have an older 1998 softail. Think it's a custom. It has forward controls and aftermarket Harley oil cooler. I am trying to find a mustache black engine guard but all seem to be listed for 2000 and up. When looking at where it should mount and did on my streetglide I see no holes and places to mount. I seen on that has a bracket go across the bottom of the down tubes and then mounts to it. I can't do that due to the oil cooler.

One suggestion would be, remove the cooler and mount the engine guard. Lengthen the cooler lines and relocate the cooler to the top horizontal tube of the engine guard. You can use the p-clamps from a touring model that hold on the lowers. They are plastic dipped so they won't slip and they are about $4 ea. at the dealer. Relocating the cooler will decrease the chances of catching road debris and causing a leak. Check for front suspension travel to make sure you have fender clearance.
