Hey guys, I have a 97 springer softail. My problem is my risers loosen about once a month and when I tighten them they eventually strip out. I already heli coiled them and used red thread locker. Where can I find aftermarket risers that will fit and still use bushings for vibration? Thanks for any info. S.C.
This is not an answer to your issue, but you can replace the chrome plate on top of the tree and use standard risers and bars. My 01 Springer came with different bars and risers. My problem was finding bars to specifically fit my bike so I could use my OEM risers because I like the look. BTW---any machine shop should be able to fix your problem, but I don't know if it would be cost effective.

I may have read this wrong. Are you saying the bolt that holds the risers to the fork are stripped or the bolts that are on the risers that hold the bars tight?

Anywhere, I don't believe you risers are special but I could be wrong.
Sounds like overtightening them is causing them to strip out? If so, you have a couple of choices. Take the top clamps off and take a little something off the bottom of each, or use brass shim stock to fill the gap needed so you do not overtighten.
No you can't make that bolt work with other softail risers----BUT---I have an extra Chrome adapter plate that works using a standard bolt that bolts the adapter plate to the top of the tree and it has the standard mounting system for regular bars.Standard risers will bolt to the plate with bolts that come up from the bottom of the adapter plate and bolts the risers to the top.
Hey thanks for the replies. I changed my buckhorn's out for some Todd cycle bars. I like the look much better than stock. I have shaved down the caps and the risers for the clamping Force but after a while they loosen and when I tighten them up one of the cap bolts stripped out again I'm looking for OEM style aftermarket risers that are made from better material than original. I am new to forums but I'm going to try to attach a pic of my bike and my OEM Riser they are different than regular Softail risers. I have seen after markets without the bushings. solid mount but I might get too much vibration on my bike. Thanks
