Default Deluxe Fuel gauge always full

I have swapped the fuel gauge out with a different one (had tons of extra parts from a previous wrecked bike) and the gauge still reads full. I know I can use the odometer and avoid running out of fuel but call me crazy, I just like seeing a working gauge. Is there a way that the float can be adjusted? I have seen a lot of folks having this issue but haven't heard of any options to correct it.

How long ago did you swap it out? It can take a few tanks of fuel for it to re-calibrate.

Check your conenctions, the fuel sender is a rheostat that will send a "full signal" when there is a high resistance in the loop. When the floats goes down the resistance in the rheistat reduces so the gauge starts moving down (it now recieves a voltage). If your connection is no good, the gauge receives no voltage to move the needle and will therefore read full all the time.

confirmed all connections were solid. at least from where the gauge itself connects to the wiring from the bike. Again this is the second gauge with same result, which leads me to believe its the float itself
