Clutch slave cylinder issues - CVO Breakout
My bike was not experiencing problems but the recall was called for. In March, the replacement part was ordered stopped by HD and a new part number was issued.
I had some concerns as I couldn't ever get an answer back as to why the part was ordered stopped. I checked with my local dealership and the service manager had a stack of those parts to send back to HD behind his desk. He assured me that there was not an issue with the part on my motorcycle.
Last week, the clutch went "loose" on the initial pull. There was about 1 inch of free play at the top of the clutch pull. This sounded like the issue that initiated the recall.
I took my bike into my dealership and, after a 15 minute ride, the service manager stated there was not an issue with my clutch.
I immediately took the bike to my independent shop and had them look it over. Sure enough, after they pulled the bike apart and inspected it, the slave cylinder was letting fluid pass through. They are going to repair it but I will be on the hook for the repairs (about $60 plus labor).
Do I even attempt to get recouped the money that I will be out on?
I do have a Scorpion lock up clutch and replacement basket on this bike. I was thinking this might play a part in my chances to recoup my moneys.
