Default Viking Bag Mounting Question

Hello, putting Viking bags on a buddies 17 fat boy. He got the XL bags for this bike. He has the 4 point docking installed on the bike currently and would like to keep it. Will this work with the Viking bags? Also, could I use the two mounting homes on each side of the 4 point docking? I’m calling Viking tomorrow just thought I’d ask the forum thanks!

Yes, it will work. I got the Viking hard lamellar bags with the quick detach set up for my 03 Fatboy. I just bought some longer bolts from Lowes and put the viking hardware right next to my HD hardware. They stick out kinda far and dont look the greatest when the bags and backrest are off, but I like being able to strip her down quickly, so I dont mind it.

Thank you, I got them installed and they don't look too bad as long as the backrest is on.

I just installed a pair of Viking bags yesterday. I got galvanized grade 8's 3 1/2 inches long. No protrusion of the bolt threads into the wheel well. With 4" bolts it extended well over 1/4" into the wheel well.

The right side sits above a Fuel Moto e Series 2-1 plates. We ran it down the freeway, ran it slow, in between and it never heated the bottom up. I was relieved about that.

I have the docking system on mine. Works fine. I have air shocks which would have needed spacers but the docking system pushed it out far enough that I have just under 1/4 inch between bag and shock. Worked out great.

I got the primed ones and took em apart and had them painted.
