Looking to remove my center light on my 12 fatboy and turn the blinkers into the RTB lights like on a similar year softail slim... looking to convert to the 1157 bulbs so I can run the leds I got from a friend. I know I can plug the piggyback harness into it and run a lower voltage to the stock lights. But I can’t run leds like that ( want it bright)...
is it an easy thing to change to those 1157 from my 1156 ( I believe that’s the conversion I’m looking for)
First off, I don't believe 1156's are LEDs, I believe they are just the difference between single and dual filament? On all of my other bikes I did need something to lower the voltage so I wouldn't suffer from the 'click of death'. I have them on my Train but didn't really do the work this time so I'm not positive. Chances are your retailer can tell you what you need when you purchase the new bulbs. You can be sure I'll watch this thread.
years ago when I had my Sportster I took the rear center tail light off when I bobbed the bike and got a module from JP cycles that turned the rear turn signals in to Turn/Tail/Brake.
granted that wasn't with LED lights just normal incandescent bulbs.
and 1156 and 1157 are single vs dual filament.
