Default 240 mm upgrade

I did a search and surprisingly didn't find anything I was looking for. I have a 2010 Fat Boy, and I'm going to make a bobber out of it. I want to run a 240 mm rear tire. I am going to mount a fender to the swingarm and cut the existing fender stuts off. I'm not afraid of modifying to get things to fit. It looks like it will be pretty snug in there. Anyone know for sure if it will fit without changing the swingarm or belt? What problems am I going to have..?

Pretty sure you can't just cram a 240 into the existing set up. You'd need a wider wheel and if you could space it so the belt didn't rub the bike would be wildly unbalanced and the brakes wouldn't line up. I started toying with the idea a few years ago and the stuff that needs changing was way too much for me, maybe have to do the full wide **** kit. And I'm pretty sure the fender struts on yours are bolted on, not like the frame horns that used to be on my bike. It now has a 2010 Fatboy **** on it, I call it the Fat Train!!Hope that was somewhat helpful. Good luck.

I wanted to do this to my 17 Fatboy b/c I wanted those solid wheels on the 18 Fatboy. Heartland makes a 250 kit, and then sells a fender for a 240 tire. Don't know if this could be pieced together to work, but I am interested.

My 2010 Fat Boy already has a 200/17 on it now. My stock swingarm is 9.75 wide inside. The stock 200/55r17 is 7.97" wide. It seems I would only need another 1/2" to make it all work , but it's gonna be tight. I'm already planning on wider fender and cutting the fender horns off. And I know I need an 8"-9" wheel. The 240/40 VR 18 tire is 9.4" which is between 9 3/8" and 9 7/16" If I convert to a chain with maybe a spacer I can gain another 3/4"of clearance. Just figured maybe someone else had tried and could save me the trouble of working it all out. I'm lazy when I can be ...lol Guess I'm going to have to find someone with a fat tired Softail and measure. But I know one thing. I'm not spending $3000 plus for a kit when I know I can figure it out. Thanks for the replies...If I figure it out I'll post the results...
