Softail question
If you're gonna work on your bike you should jump on this offer....!
I buy all three manuals mentioned for the bikes I buy. The two mentioned above and the parts manual. I'm a visual guy and the exploded diagrams in the parts manual help me a lot, not to mention when I need a part, I'm not at the mercy of the "expert" behind the parts counter of a dealership. Plus, knowing the part number I need allows me to find the best price online...

I posted some pics of the bike that have to be approved before they show
The last bike I had was a 1969 electraglide that had been chained to a tree outside for 8 years and the pistons were froze, clutches stuck, and the brake fluid had turned solid like dirt. Poured some marvel mystery oil on top of the pistons and let it sit a couple days and jumped on the kickstart until it broke loose, roughed the clutch disc on a concrete block and fixed brakes and new plugs and rode it the summer like that.(edit- because of the rust in the gas tanks I got so good taking the S&S apart I got to where I didnt even need a flashlight on the side of the road )
Rebuilt it that winter and rode from NC to sturgis and my only problem was a flat tire in Nebraska on a saturday night.
This is my 3rd Harley and it will be the first time I wont take it apart the the kitchen come the first winter lol

Sadly those days are gone with the advent of all the electrical stuff.....!
I realize the electronics allow the newer bikes to run/start "better".... but the days of fixing them along the side of the road with a small toolkit are mostly a thing of the past....
Pictures should show soon ?

I'm going to look for that parts manual for my bike. I found oil in my air filter today. Looks like I'll need to keep some on hand since they're paper and not designed to be soaked with oil.
Some of the the HD Screamin Eagle hiflo air cleaner kits have filters that have a synthetic, washable air cleaner element that does not require oiling...... I have them on all my bikes.
You could also use this as the reason to install an open air venting system to the head breathers... some go open air, some go catch can... either way it keeps the oil mist from being injested into your intake and building carbon on the cylinders tops as it's burned off....
