If no air gets into the ABS module, there is no need to cycle the ABS module.... If you are sloppy and allow air to get into the ABS module, then the only way to bleed the air out of the module is to cycle it...
Try to minimize the air in the lines, and don't activate the ABS module until you bleed any air out of the lines, and you're good......
That's why there's a big debate about cycling the ABS when flushing the brake fluid.... it is possible to totally flush and bleed the system without activating the ABS module, but then a small amount of old fluid will remain in the module, and not be flushed out....
I am also of the opinion that that the warning about not turning on the ignition, until the lines are bleed is overkill.... When the ABS system is checked, when the ignition is turned on, it is just an electrical system check, the ABS valves are NOT cycled... If the ABS module cycled whenever the ignition was turned on, there would be no need to use the dealer tech tool or buy aftermarket equipment, to cycle the ABS, you could just turn the ignition on/off...
But then again, playing it safe by not turning on the ignition until the lines are properly bled can't hurt anything....
