I've been wanting some 14" Carlini Gansters ($400.00) for my 2012 Heritage Softail. Went by my local HD today and was quoted a price of $2025 for bars, cables, risers, bushings, brake fluid, etc, etc, etc.
Anyone done this job before on their's?
If I do it myself, I'm looking about about $1000 in parts.
I got an estimate close to the same. I put 16" Carlini Menace apes on my Breakout. Did it myself. Cost close to the $1000 in parts. Two things that were a pain was hooking up the brake line to the ABS unit in the back and running the wires thru the bars. Both are doable. ABS is in front of the back wheel. Disconnect the negative cable until you bleed the brakes and you won't get the ABS light after you are done. I used a vacuum pump and ran a whole pint or quart of fluid thru to make sure I didn't leave any air in the ABS unit.
There's no f**king handlebars worth $900 much less $2k+ get real people ....
This!
I make my own polished stainless steel broomstick drags, regular drags for about $20.
I know cost will include extra for longer cables, wires, if needed. Still shouldn't be that expensive. $300+ for handlebars is nuts.
Guess I'm showing my geezer-ness, LOL!
Building a gas tank from scratch is tricky, installing bars can be done in your sleep. No flippin' way would I pay $1k just to INSTALL the bars. I'll come out to where you are and do it for $500. Gonna be in SA on Sunday anyway.
Why the stock bars fine on my RK I refuse to pay what everyone is charging for something that's never cost me over $40 before . This nonsense today is goober prices.

How did you cycle the abs unit? Do you have a digital technician or one of those ITM units you see on here ?
