need some good troubleshooting tips. on my 2001 EFI fatboy, i have the harley securty system. always worked fine for me. yesterday i started the bike and it went nuts. i disarmed it, mounted the bike, started the bike, and no problems. Great, but as i got to the end of the street, the alarm goes off and the bike is still running. siren blaring and lights flashing, but bike still running. shut off bike and shut off alarm, started it back up rode it back to the house, same thing happens again. didnt get to ride.
FOB is working fine.
i tested it by, starting it again, and as the engine is running i get a few chirps and then the alarm goes off again, but bike stays running. PLEase help. any ideas on what to look for?
Make sure all lights are working especially signals. Be sure it is disarmed before anything... Press and hold key fob 10-15 seconds waiting on two flashes to sync. Then I would try unplugging and plugging it back in. No go? Then try it without battery siren backup plugged in. Recharge battery could be worn out.
Have you changed anything on it? There is a Sensitivity setting, transport mode, auto arming, and storage mode. Sounds like it is waking up after storage. Way too much to explain all this. Not sure if in owners manual like it is in the service manual.
Need to read codes from the speedometer.
Maybe a new alarm TSSM.

thanks RIPSAW. haven't changed any settings recently. only yesterday after the issue started i turned the auto arm feature off to see if that was it. in the owners manual i couldn't find any troubleshooting for this issue. i will look up how to read the speedo codes. but its just crazy that after the bike starts and is running the siren blares and keeps running. thanks
So today I unplugged the siren and everything is working fine now. Guessing Siren module needs a new battery. Going to shop around for a new battery and replace it and then try it and see if it doesnt cause issues.

Good guess on my part. 2001 is a long life for a recharge battery. Little in the service manual on error codes on the system. There should have been an error code for that.
Keep us informed so we know. Some one else will be having that problem.
My 04 does not have battery siren option. Still works fine. I rarely use key.

But isn't there a signal that keeps the bike interacting with the Fob while the bike is in operation? If the bike is running and you remove the fob from the area of the bike, will the bike stay running?
