But isn't there a signal that keeps the bike interacting with the Fob while the bike is in operation? If the bike is running and you remove the fob from the area of the bike, will the bike stay running?
Not on the older systems. The newer one is the one you need in your pocket for the Harley to start. And running it does not need to remain. When it first came out, a few I worked on started and the owner rode off with it in my pocket. After driving to a couple of people's homes to return it when they called me to tell me they could not get their Harley started, I do not make that mistake anymore.
It would be a dangerous thing if you started it with it laying on your garage bench and while riding down the road, it cut off. It just won't start unless you do the code. Most people don't set it or know-how. I set it 1 so I just rock the signal switches. You can do that at night. If a crook can figure it out, more power to him.
