Bike sat for 2weeks while i was on hitch. Came home tried to start it. Cranks but wont fire.
Has fuel can smell it as i try to start bike. No spark when i pull plug and ground it on fins.
Replaced battery and plugs. Same thing. Connections all tight. Run switch on. Fuel pump is running the 3 seconds as normal.
Have the clymer service manual. But cant find out how to test coil or what to test to see where im losing spark at.
Have a new coil coming but wont be here til next week and have a charity ride this weekend.
Any ideas what to check or how to test coil to see if it is that?
Another question. Was just looking up crank position sensor and noticed it fits both my fatboy and my 08 sportster.
Would the coil, plug wires and crank position sensor from my sporty work on fatboy?
Just got the new igniton coil today. Installed it and still just cranks and doesnt fire.
So new plugs new coil new battery and fuel pump kicks on. Thumb switch is on.
So im at a loss here. Ordered new start/stop switch. Will be here Wednesday. Never replaced a switch before. Are they plug and play or will i have to splice/solder the wires? Any help is much appreciated.
The clymers manual isnt much help or i havent found the right section yet
I would get an HD 2003 Service manual and the electrical diagnostic manual. In the rear of your owners manual it will list the part numbers for the manuals... I believe you need P/N 99481-03A for the service manual... but double check that. If that part number is correct, you can get a new one for $103 from NewCastle HD online. There is a used one on eBay right now, bid's at $30.
There is a used 2003 Dyna Electrical manual #99496-03 for $59 on eBay right now
The reason I suggest the manuals, is because I have found it is much cheaper, and usually faster, to do some actual diagnostics rather than just throw parts at a problem. The HD manuals will help with that. I've looked at , but never bothered to buy a Clymers, or other off brand manual for any of my Harleys... they're, quite frankly, no where near as good as the wanna be manuals....
You're kind of all over with your parts replacement, so it's hard to try and guess what's been checked and/or missed... sorry I can't help with suggestions.
Sorry if im all over the place on parts. New battery was because it wouldnt fully charge pn trickle charger. I mentioned that as 1 issue with crank but wont fire is weak battery. New spark plugs due to not sure how old others were as ive only had bike 1 month. New coil as thats next in line for where spark come from.
I figured i would start at where spark ends. Spark plugs and work my way back to find issue.
I will look at the other manuals also. Hopefully they have lots pf pictures as i better comprehend with pictures lol

I'd go with the previously suggested diagnostic approach.
Thanks for reply Mike. Its efi and no tuner. Planning on taking the crank position sensor from my other bike and trying that today. After that im at a loss for what it could be from all my google searches
