Maybe next time, start a new thread and just ask your question...

It will accomplish two things:

1) Your thread will get more views and be looked at by people currently reading the forum. Most 10 year olds threads won't get you a response. If you believe someone on an old thread has the answer to your question, send them a private message. Most people won't look at an old dead thread that has been brought back to life..

2) You will have just one thread that can address your specific question. The title will attract peoiple with simialr questions and/or answers

You will get far more looks and responses from a new thread, than reactivating long, dead threads...
Get over yourself. Who cares how old the post is, many people have not read it. If you dont like old threads dont read them. Quit being an Ah####

Not so much of an older post, they get resurrected daily, more of the point he made his first 8 posts bringing back posts regarding the same topic. Starting a new one or using google would've been more helpful, think about it.

Wasn't trying to be an Ah#####...

I really think he would get more reads and responses if he made a new thread, instead of bumping 9 old ones...

You are welcome to disagree...

Maybe a picture would help. My BO tank just has a tab on the rear portion and I did a 3" lift. Loosen, do lift, tighten. The lift doesn't result in much of a change at the rear connection point.

Hope this helps.

Well there's 2 ways of looking at reviving an old thread of the same topic. Why clutter the forums with yet another thread if you think about it. But starting or reviving, one is enough either way. No need for 2 or 8 or however many.
I never understood the problem people have with reviving one if the topic fits. *shrug*
I guess you'd have to scroll thru the old posts but...?

As to the topic, I had a 1.5" lift front only on my 05 1200 Custom. It helped with the look I was after when I lowered the rear suspension. It flowed better with the rest of the bike. But the biggest advantage is/was the increase in airflow for cooling. It made a significant difference and helped especially with low speed cooling where airflow is scarce.
I haven't looking into doing it with my Heritage...yet anyway. Not sure the look would be something I'd want on it.
The other thing it does is make it easier to clean/shine the rocker box covers for those of us with chrome that want to keep it looking nice.
Oh, and it made it possible to do a complete wire tuck. When I put internally wired apes on and did the wire tuck, I had no visible wiring anywhere cluttering up the look.
The only disadvantage would be possibly less useable fuel. Wasn't an issue for me tho.
