There are claims that the resistance of the plug wires or even front and back may make a difference with FI e. I've only used stock wires so dunno
First though was screwed up something in handlebars. But it turns over. If mechanical cables I would say check tensions and how you set it. My guess is carb is not set correctly,
I doubt we need to load test battery. It starts. Ran before hand. Unless was out of service for long time. Could out charger on if bored.
If setting up cables does not do it., neeed to review what you did. Worked before. These kind of issue are tough. I'd start putting original parts on until it runs.
Puts the ECU to "sleep" so no electrical problems arise. Electrical Work 101. Plenty of connections were compromised while changing things over.
Duh, I just got it through my thick head that the control switch housings were opened up, and I agree the battery certainly should have been disconnected.
Checked plugs... One was bad. the inner white piece was snapped so moved freely. Got a box of new plugs, made sure they were good and put em in. So tested and have spark. Next... Fuel, used starter spray and didnt get a start up but chug with flames out the pipes.... Maybe fuel residue on the pipes? Burned for like 2 seconds after i let off the start....

Good idea. But not the issue. You might have blown a fuse if something contacted something. But unlikely. The bike is firing so nothing g to do with wires in bars. They are just permissive to start.
It's not the plugs either, started before with old. Never had a bad plug. But wouldn't hurt to check spark. My guess is cages are not right
If you get spark, turns over, and it's carbed has to be fuel delivery. You changed cables. Check carb. Maybe itc some othervweird thing, but dont waste time with whats not.

Are the plugs wet? I am a little surprised it didn't sputter, but I don't think that proves anything. I've never done it with a bigger engine, just little stuff.
My theory is your slides up and pipes are filling with gas. Cables are not adjusted right and you been cranking forever with choke pulled.
Pull plugs turn over for awhile. Let sit. It's flooded, just like when kids. At least that is my theory if it turns over and has spark.
It was running before. Unless you back story, oh ya had a code.
