I used to have an cloth cover over my bike in the past, but found that it actually makes things worse, it retains the water longer in/under the cover which lead to more corrosion...
I had a small shed build custom when I was living in the far east, keeping the bike inside in an A/C area prevented the salt spray there having too much of an impact. It was faairly small, about 3m long, 2m wide and 2.2m high... was a nice little working shed! Labour and material was very cheap there so having it build was easy.
If you build it your self advise to use double walls!!
Welcome back - I remember your Rocker - very nice bike. I kind of know what you are going thru. I lost my Dad unexpectedly a few years back, and it has been much harder than I ever thought it would be. I have had a lot of personal things going on since that time, and would have loved to just talk to him. Hang in there and try to do the things that make you feel good - ride the bike, spend time with new lady, etc. It may take awhile, but things will slowly get better. Take care and ride - some wind time helps the mind.
I didn’t realize you had a rocker as well !!! Yea, not many of us around, another reason why I don’t want to get rid of mine !!!
I read one review about that bike shield from someone who actually lives here in NJ. They said it held up pretty well during a big snow storm, they just had to go out and clear off the snow off the top of it once in a while. As far as the hike getting stolen, I’m not really worried about that. Our neighborhood is good, we are off the beaten path, away from any main roads (dead end street). So no one other than the people who live on our block would be driving by and seeing it.
Plus, I would just surround the bike with my other cars in such a way that would make it really hard for someone to roll the bike away. The only issue is the space in the driveway. Will be tough since we have to share the driveway with the landlord and his girlfriend. The shield is still a good option , one which I can always take with me wherever I go.
Im still considering getting the best outdoor cover on the market, waxing and detailing the bike really well and just using that instead of complicating my life with building sheds.
Anyone have experience with a good outdoor cover in snowy winters they can report?
That's good to hear about that cover, I have had my cover for about for years, one with light snow at work, and the other three in Hawaii at work, so i was hesitant to reccomend it for a moderately snowy area.... But FYI it is built well, and holds up to lots of use.
And damn skippy I'll always have a Rocker! 120+k miles between the two I have owned so far...

Have you thought about getting a 20ft shipping container?
Shipping container won’t work. There’s no room in the driveway, that bike box looks great but it’s not sold here in the U. S. I can only imagine it’s really expensive, especially after shipping it here from Europe.

sorry about your dad, it sucks dude. I tricked myself into thinking I had dealt with my mom’s death, a year later I’m realizing I was full of ****. I just can’t shake this negative/bad energy that seems to follow me around everywhere I go. I went out and spent a bunch of money on things I don’t need, like cars and such trying to bury the pain. That doesn’t work at all !!
I still realize that things could be way worse, I just need to be more consistent with my positivity.

That bike shelter is looking like a good option right now.
Pallets are your friend you know the stuff things are delivered on by hgv's heavy goods etc and mostly free or very cheap you won't need many.
Bolt, nail, screw, secure them together and cover both sides with plywood or similar of your choice and in between the pallet gap fill them with all sorts of crap wire, metal barb wire etc and then fill with expanding foam and make water tight with whatever you want. do the measure right you can have door opening a pallet width and two height very easy to do cheap as chips and more secure than anything you will buy ready built.
I've had the Bike Barn for a couple years, it holds up well and we get lots of snow my way. My bike gets stored in the winter but I use it for the snowblower, I keep the heavy snow pushed off and the cover shows no sign of wear. It does have the option for easy portability when you move.

One of my girlfriend’s friends is going to let me store the bike at his place until the landlord and I decide which shed option to go with.
Im really liking this bike barn option more and more. So easy to use and portable.
