Default Interchangeability between years

I have a 99 Heritage. The tins are in fine shape and the paint is good. Rather than paint them I'm thinking of replacing them. Aside from the split tanks, will fenders from later models interchange? I'm familiar with the touring bikes and the years when things changed but I don't know much about early Softails. Specifically I'm looking to add a rear wrap fender but all I'm finding is 2000 and up, the first year of the twin cam.

Keep in mind when looking for tanks, OEM are much better than aftermarket stuff, and look inside for peeling liner and/or rust.

I already have a set of oem tanks, I’m asking about rear fenders.

I'm not sure if it was ever updated but I have a book called"What Fits What". It cover 83 on back ...like what pan heads fit on shovel bottom...knuckle lower with pan tranny..etc...
